Sunshine Immune Smoothie
Made with--you guessed it--our Sunshine Golden Milk along with a bit of fresh citrus and ginger, mango or peaches, coconut milk and frozen, steamed sweet potato cubes (a more nutrient-dense, less sugary, more local option than banana for making your smoothies creamy!).
This smoothie sets itself above your average smoothie for a couple of reasons. For one, it's filled with warming spices from the Sunshine Golden Milk and ginger. While smoothies are packed full of nutrients, their cold and sugary nature can be challenging for our digestive systems. These spices add a warming counter balance and help kick-start the fires of healthy digestion. The fact that the sweet potato has been steamed also makes it easier to digest.
We also love this recipe because it supports the immune system due to it's high vitamin a and vitamin c content (thanks to the orange, mango/peach, sweet potato and Sunshine Golden Milk), as well as the immune supportive properties from the fresh ginger as well as the turmeric in our Sunshine Golden Milk.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 C (heaping) frozen mango or peaches
1/3 C frozen steamed sweet potato cubes
1 medium orange - zest and fresh squeezed juice
1/4 C + 1 Tbsp full fat coconut milk (dairy friendly folks can use half + half here!)
1/2 C filtered water
1 Tsp freshly grated ginger
1 Tsp Sunshine Golden Milk
DIRECTIONS
Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high until completely smooth. Sip and enjoy!
